In the News

Hello Big Brothers Big Sisters family -

It is with tremendously mixed feelings that I share with you that I am stepping down after over 22 years with this amazing and impactful organization. This was not an easy decision and I will miss working with our dedicated staff, Board, volunteers, families, partners, and donors. And I will treasure the relationships that I have enjoyed over the years. One of my favorite things has been to hear from current and former Littles in the community. It has been heartening to see them forging productive and successful lives due in large part to the support of their Bigs, and the caring parents who enrolled them in our program. And I will, with great joy, continue to be a Big Sister.

I have an opportunity to stay in Fairbanks to pursue a new career without the level of travel that has been part of my schedule for the last 7 plus years, and I owe it to myself and my health to take advantage of this exciting opportunity.

I will always be a champion for Big Brothers Big Sisters and for the amazing work we have done and are doing here in Alaska. We are fortunate to have tremendous talent on our Board and in our staff, so I know our agency will continue to be a leader in the Big Brothers Big Sisters network and in the non-profit world in Alaska. I encourage you, our wonderful BBBS family across the state, to find ways to support the program to help it continue to thrive and grow, providing paths to success for more and more children in our great state. And there are so many opportunities to do so! When you apply for your Permanent Fund Dividend, contribute to BBBS through Lovalaska (Pick. Click. Give.), form a Bowl for Kids' Sake team and raise money from friends and colleagues (bbbsak.org/bowl), make a contribution to or through your local United Way, or donate via our website: bbbsak.org/donate. There could be no better way to celebrate my years with this organization than to thank you for your donations - and I will be eternally grateful for your support of our programs as I make way for new energy to infuse the agency and positively impact future generations of Alaskan youth. Thank you for all you do for the children of Alaska and for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Fondly,

Taber
